ESTABLISHING A STRONG  FOUNDATION IN WRITING WHILE BUILDING INTEREST IN THE CRAFT

Many students struggle with writing upon entering Primary 3. This struggle continues to Primary 4 if they do not grasp skills that give them the ability to craft coherent and engaging stories. In this programme, students acquire skills such as Show, Not Tell, Description of Settings and Characters, Building Coherence towards Thematic Topics. This programme is perfect for parents and students who feel lost in the world of writing and wish to master the techniques necessary to becoming an adept writer as they go to Primary 5-6.


Along with skills and techniques needed to build a coherent and vivid composition, writing demands closely tied in to the MOE syllabus, your child will be equipped with the following skill sets:

  • Introduction of result-focused, exam-smart strategies to ensure students do not go out of point
  • Generate, curate and organise ideas relating to commonly tested writing themes and topics
  • Expansion of vocabulary specifically related to writing: Show, Don’t Tell; Description of Settings and Characters, Figurative Language (Metaphor, Alliteration, Personification, Similes)
  • Mastery of organisational techniques that help build an engaging story that fulfils the composition’s question requirements
